Nearest to Isola Santa Cristina is the famed Burano island with its colourful buildings and hand-made lace, Mazzorbo with the Venissa vineyards and lauded restaurant, and Torcello with its first-century Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta, which boasts stunning Byzantine mosaics.
